Fiona’s Monthly Shopping List
November is all about cosy knitwear and keeping warm and comfortable for me. (In truth, which month isn’t?) Anyone who knows me, knows that I will always opt for a warm cashmere knit over something trendy and flashy in colder months, and at the moment I can’t help but be obsessed with neutral shades (as always) teamed with a hint of leopard or animal print. There are actually some really cool kitten heels cow print pumps that aren’t featured above, but that you can shop here, that I think are beyond exciting with jeans or even with cords this month!
I’m in my third trimester of pregnancy now, so trousers are sort of a thing of the past (hopefully the future too), and something I am hoping to stock up on now for post-baby arrival. For right now however, I am opting for a lot of knit bottoms, and of course, my trusted Bumpsuit outfits, which has been my daily uniform for what feels like a lifetime.
I’ve taken up journaling much more in this second pregnancy than in my first, which is slightly ironic because the first time around my days consisted of challenging myself on the speed at which I can complete Netflix from the comfort of my sofa with a blazing fire and a cup of hot chocolate, where as this time around I am juggling school drop offs, lunches, running businesses, managing a team and trying to stay on top of toddler laundry in times of potty training. The Smythson leopard print note book is high on my shopping list, in fact, it’s in my shopping cart as I type.
Whether it’s the oversized cashmere sweater by SKIMS, the classic crew neck wool and cashmere blend by The Row or the slightly cooler front tie cashmere knit by Lisa Yang, I’m here for them all, and am equally stocking up on basics by Max Mara and Loulou de Saison. In my larger than life state, I combine them with leggings, woolly tights and a stretchy skirt or knit trousers, and still feel just that tiny bit ‘dressed’ for my day to day. I’m definitely living the covid-zoom era all over again, where my bottom half is a complete disaster, while I try to add a cute necklace on top to complete my outfit fit for a video meeting.
I have always loved cream in the winter, and think a cream coat is just the most chicest thing on the planet. Mine tend to live in my wardrobe until death do us part, with a 45kg golden retriever and living in probably the muddiest part of the planet, it is slightly unrealistic to keep these looking as chic as they deserve to, but I am obsessed with the Brunello Cucinelli double breasted alpaca blend coat this month.
I’m not travelling now until the baby is born, which is already filling me with slight gloom, as we usually spend November and early December in sunshine- so instead I have been upgrading my suitcases and planning to visit extra special destinations next year. I’ve really been diving into coffee table books for inspo and am in love with the dark green FPM Milano Bank Spinner, which I find is a really understated and stylish option to some of the more generic luxury brands.
I am also that person that puts up her Christmas tree right after Halloween, and am currently making space in my dining area for the show-stopper, and space on bookshelves and side tables for tiny nutcrackers and Santa Clause figurines. Loved this spicy little ornament to add to my collection, so am excited to share it with you here.
As we move into Mercury retrograde later this week, I am actually looking forward to some time to reflect and assess the year so far, and start a fresh chapter in time for next month, the festivities and the arrival baby number two.
