Learning Astrology

I don’t think I ever believed in the stars and the moon before I hit rock bottom.

Could it be that when a person has nothing else to hold on to, they start clutching at the things they previously didn’t believe in?

Let me start again, it’s not that I definitely didn’t believe in astrology. It’s that I knew nothing about it, and never really gave it a second thought. Sure, I would buy Grazia or inTouch magazine as a teenager in Germany, and flip straight to the weekly astro-forecast, to find out if my high school crush might notice me that week.

During the pandemic I completely changed the direction of my life; anyone who knows me, know that I went through the biggest transformation of my life;

I quit my job, and began to set up byFionaWood

I met who who would then become my husband walking down the Kings Road

I completely reinvented myself by pushing my social boundaries and meeting new people, adding sport and meditation to my daily routine and focusing on nutrition and general wellbeing.

This sounds super positive, I know. When in reality, before I got the hang of running, before I met my now husband, when I would meditate for 20 seconds and find my mind wander uncontrollably, I was drowning in anxious thoughts, existential fears and heart ache.

Rising in Capricorn

The rising sign is also known as the ascendant, and describes ones mask, or how others may see you and the impression you make. It’s no surprise that my rising sign is basically a resting bitch face.

I often appear to others as quite serious and mysterious at times, even intimidating or unapproachable (thank gosh I am already married…)

Capricorn is ruled by the serious energy of Saturn; think structure control and stability.

Sun in Sagittarius

The sun represents the conscious mind and our personality in astrology, it’s the sign people refer to when they ask what you are, it’s our evolving higher self and it dictates what we want in life.

My birthday is on December 20th, so my sun is in Sagittarius, which is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion, opportunity and travel. Because, according to my sun sign, I am naturally more optimistic, enjoy both mental and physical freedom, it suggests that my interests lie in education, spirituality, travelling the world; the need to explore and learn.

I always thought it was because I am German, but actually it’s my fire sign that makes people often look at me as blunt and honest. Also, because my sun sits in the 12th house, I am naturally drawn to music, dance and the arts- I started my life in theatre and singing many years ago.

Moon in Libra

If you think of your sun sign as who you are, the moon sign is what one needs- mine is in Libra. Libra is ruled by the energy of love, beauty harmony and relationships, and is ruled by the planet Venus.

Emotionally, I require balance of harmony, so find myself happiness in a partnership - whether platonic, romantic or in business. My husband’s sun sign is in Libra, not that this necessarily has anything to do with me, but just thought I’d throw it in here for fun.

As Libra is a planet that also deals with aesthetics, I find myself finding happiness in beautiful things, which include fashion, of course. No surprise I enjoy spending my days catching up with new arrivals by my favourite designers in fashion, accessories, homeware and jewellery. It’s the Libra in me that is drawn to the finer things in life.

I’d also like to add a note to all of my credit card suppliers, that it’s not my fault that I over spend on shopping; it’s the conflicting energies between the moon and Jupiter, which means I spend money impulsively and often overindulge.
